Together with Viltrox, Rollei introduces the Viltrox AF 50mm F/1.4 Pro FX. This fast standard lens from the Viltrox Pro series is aimed at demanding photographers and videographers using Nikon full-frame cameras, combining the classic 50-millimeter perspective with high light intensity, a weather-sealed housing, and a sophisticated optical design consisting of 15 lenses.

Norderstedt, 11.02.2026. Together with Viltrox, Rollei introduces the AF 50mm F/1.4 Pro FX, expanding the Viltrox Pro series with a classic focal length. Nikon photographers thus get an alternative in the segment of fast standard focal lengths, which, due to their versatility, is suitable for almost every photographic purpose – from portraits to street photography to professional video productions.

The aperture of F/1.4 combined with 11 aperture blades creates a soft, creamy bokeh and allows for a pronounced isolation of the main subject. Especially in portrait photography, this feature demonstrates its strengths, while the high light intensity simultaneously allows for fast shutter speeds in low ambient light without increasing ISO values. 15 lenses in 11 groups form the optical construction, with three ED glass elements correcting chromatic aberrations and eight HR elements, along with one ultra-aspherical element, ensuring consistent sharpness from the center to the edges.

The lens is equipped with an HD Nano multi-layer coating, which not only minimizes flares and ghosting but also makes the lens water and dirt repellent. This proves particularly beneficial during outdoor use. At 830 grams, the lens feels pleasantly solid in hand – a weight that makes the continuous metal construction and the quality standard of the Pro series tangible.

The integrated VCM motor operates quickly and precisely and has been optimized for both stills and video. The internal focusing keeps the overall length constant – a crucial advantage for balance and center of gravity when shooting with a gimbal or on a rig. The eye autofocus reliably tracks people even when moving, while the minimum focusing distance of 45 centimeters provides enough scope for detailed close-up shots.

The operation is particularly well thought out: The aperture ring features a click switch that allows you to switch between stepless and stepped adjustment. Videographers benefit from smooth aperture transitions without audible clicks, while photographers appreciate the haptic feedback of the detents. An additional freely assignable FN button speeds up access to frequently used settings and can be individually adapted to the workflow.

The 77-millimeter filter thread accommodates standard filters, and EXIF data is fully transmitted to the camera. In addition, updates can be conveniently installed via USB-C. With a diameter of 8.45 centimeters and a length of 11.1 centimeters, the lens remains handy enough for longer sessions despite its robust construction. The smallest aperture is F/16, covering situations with plenty of ambient light where a large depth of field is desired.

The Viltrox AF 50mm F/1.4 Pro FX is available for pre-order now at a price of 599 Euros (RRP) in the Rollei online shop at www.rollei.de/viltrox-50mm-f14-z and is expected to be available from February 25, 2026.
