Rollei HS Freeze 1X Studio Flash: As compact as a speedlight, as flexible as a studio flash

Rollei expands the latest generation of the HS-Freeze studio flash series with the launch of the HS Freeze 1X Studio Flash, a compact model for studio setups. The new studio flash boasts 100 watt-seconds of power, a Quick-Freeze-Mount for universal light modifiers, an intuitive touch display, and a weight of only 705 grams. It seamlessly integrates into the HS-Freeze X-series and offers both beginners and professionals an ideal addition for multi-light setups.

Norderstedt, 13.03.2026. Rollei expands its successful HS-Freeze studio flash family with a compact model: The HS Freeze 1X Studio Flash combines 100 watt-seconds of power and is aimed at photographers who want to get started with studio lighting or ideally complement their existing HS-Freeze setup.

With its dimensions, the HS Freeze 1X Studio Flash is as compact as a camera lens and weighs only 705 grams including the battery. Despite its compact design, it delivers 100 watt-seconds of flash power with a guide number of 50. The finely graded power control in 10 steps allows for precise adjustments for portraits, product photos, or creative lighting.

The Quick-Freeze-Mount enables the universal attachment of numerous light modifiers. Whether directly compatible Rollei light modifiers or even Bowens-compatible light modifiers via the optional adapter – the system is fast, secure, and maximally flexible. Photographers save time during setup and gain creative freedom.

The powerful lithium-ion battery enables up to 500 flashes at maximum power – perfect for mobile shoots without a power source. In the studio, the HS Freeze 1X Studio Flash can be powered directly via a USB-C power adapter, allowing for unlimited use without changing batteries. Thanks to an extremely fast recycling time of only 0.01 to 1.6 seconds, the flash is immediately ready again. In burst mode, up to 60 flashes per second are possible – ideal for action, sports, and fashion photography. With 6,000 Kelvin, the flash ensures consistent, color-stable lighting – even during continuous shooting.

No complicated menus: The intuitive touch display ensures quick, easy operation. Power levels, flash modes, and synchronization settings can be adjusted directly. The integrated group LED on the back of the flash visualizes the current group assignment at a glance – allowing up to 16 groups to be quickly and efficiently assigned and controlled. The integrated 2-watt LED modeling light with 5,500 Kelvin color temperature can be used as a modeling light, video, or continuous light and offers more control over the lighting mood.

The HS Freeze 1X Studio Flash offers all essential flash modes: TTL for automatic exposure metering, manual mode for precise control, HSS (High-Speed Sync) for shooting with an open aperture in bright light, Freeze mode for ultra-short flash duration, Strobe mode for multiple flashes, as well as synchronization via first and second curtain. Easy Cap mode enables precise isolation of subjects in multiple shots.

The HS Freeze 1X Studio Flash is compatible with mechanical and electronic shutters. Firmware updates via USB-C keep it future-proof.

The integrated 2.4 GHz radio receiver with a range of over 80 meters enables wireless control via the well-known Rollei radio transmitters. With 31 channels and 16 groups, complex lighting setups with multiple HS-Freeze flashes can be controlled without interference. Additionally, the flash has an integrated photocell for slave triggering and a 3.5-millimeter sync jack for wired synchronization.
