Stephan Wiesner is a well-known and popular photographer from Lower Saxony who has many followers on social media. One reason for this is that the photography teacher's posts are not only rock-solid but also absolutely humorous. In his new post, he tested our new battery flash Freeze 6s.
Professional photographer Stephan Wiesner has uploaded a new video to his popular YouTube channel. This time he takes a closer look at the new Rollei battery flash HS Freeze 6s.
The flagships of the Freeze series (HS Freeze 6s and 4s) are now both protected against dust, spray water and sand*. Wiesner demonstrates how useful this protection can be in practical application with various successful photos and videos, in which he also presents the metadata to the viewer.

HSS explained with impressive examples
HS Freeze 6s and 4s naturally also feature High-Speed Sync (HSS) as well as TTL and the Freeze mode. Stephan Wiesner explains these points in particular detail (including a great photo he recently took in a riding hall) and also gives tips on the correct use of these important functions.

He shows an impressive behind-the-scenes video of a mountain bike shoot that he did with the previous models.
Of course, in his video he also goes into the respective differences between the two flashes – for example, weight and flash output. The 4s is lighter compared to the 6s. With a flash output of 400 watt-seconds, the 4s weighs only 2.35 kilograms – the 6s, with an output of 600 watt-seconds, weighs 3 kilograms.
Matching the new Freeze models: the Professional Radio Transmitter Mark II
Wiesner presents the flash not only with fantastic pictures he took, but also in his usual humorous way.
“The four is lighter, which means if you want to work very high, lighter is better. But if you want more power, more power is better.”
After presenting his photos taken with the new flash head, Stephan Wiesner also discusses the new Professional Radio Transmitter Mark II. Like the flashes, the transmitter is protected against spray water, sand and dust and can be operated with cameras from Sony (with included adapter), Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Panasonic or Olympus. One for all.

The recycle time? Extremely low. And that's a good thing.
“With this flash, I can switch between Sony and Nikon. This is very practical if, like me, you have different cameras or conduct workshops where participants come with different cameras. Then I just have to switch depending on which camera it's currently on.”
Towards the end of the video, professional photographer Wiesner also discusses the particularly short recycle time of 0.9 seconds at full flash output that the flashes have. He explains how important it is for the flash head to recharge quickly between shots and be able to fire again immediately.

For example, in fashion photography, where the model quickly takes a new pose one after another with each new flash.
