We have just launched our new Lumen Flex S, M, and L panel lights, which are incredibly exciting devices for various reasons.
To have them tested by a true professional, we asked photographer Mario Dirks to put them through their paces for us – and to show in a YouTube video what the Flex variants are actually capable of.
Flexible and foldable LED continuous light
Mario Dirks explains one of the many advantages they offer right at the beginning of the video. "When I received the packages, I initially wanted to call Rollei and say: 'Hey, you forgot the contents, because the packages were extremely light'."
Mario Dirks then shows why they are so light in the video, presenting the three available sizes S, M, and L in detail and with their respective different amounts of LEDs. He also explains for which shooting situations the panel lights in their respective sizes are suitable.
Easy handling via controller or app
Among other things, he mentions that all three variants can be adjusted using the included controller or via the 'Rollei Lumen' app. For example, the color temperature can be steplessly adjusted – via the controller.
Mario Dirks finds particularly positive, in addition to the high flexibility and lightness of the product, that it can be used in many areas – whether you are producing content for photography or video.
Simple setup including X-Mount
Additionally, Mario Dirks explains how to easily set up the Lumen Flex with the help of the so-called X-Mount. These are four X-shaped struts that fit into the corner mounts during setup. You can imagine the X-Mount as an attachment that you fasten to your light stand with a spigot connection. So simple – so practical.
Regarding setup, Dirks also explains that the lamp can be rotated from portrait to landscape format and back using an Allen screw and a tiny flick of the wrist.
The complete presentation with all exciting aspects of the lights can be found in the video!
