In the world of photography and videography, light plays a crucial role. It can create moods, capture emotions, and make the difference between a good shot and an extraordinary one. With our Candela series, we offer a new standard in LED continuous lights. These compact, powerful lights are not only easy to use but also versatile – a true game-changer for both photo and video shoots.
Why work with LED continuous lights?
Unlike flashlights, which emit a strong, short pulse of light, continuous lights provide steady light. This has several advantages:
- Compactness and Mobility: Easy to transport and ideal for outdoor shoots.
- Power and Efficiency: High light output with low power consumption prevents overheating.
- Battery Use: Longer runtime due to efficient LED technology, ideal for locations without power outlets.
- Visible Effect and Adaptability: Allows real-time adjustments of light intensity and color temperature without additional equipment.
- Less Strain on Models: Continuous light is eye-friendly and promotes natural interaction.
- Versatility: Suitable for photo and video shoots, saving the need to switch between different lighting systems.

Candela Continuous Lights in Wedding Photography
Weddings are unique events full of unforgettable moments that need to be captured. However, not everyone involved is experienced in front of the camera. This is where Candela continuous lights, for example, come in particularly handy. Their soft, steady light is ideal for achieving natural, authentic shots without irritating or blinding those involved.
Marina Photography Tests the Candela Series in Practice
Marina, a wedding photographer with 12 years of experience in sophisticated weddings and couple shoots, has been working with our LED lights for some time. For the launch of the Candela series, she had the opportunity to test the compact 60 Watt models in practice for us. It is particularly important for the photographer that people immediately recognize themselves in her shots and that every story is captured in a unique and authentic way.
Marina used the Candela lights at two different locations:
-
At the airfield: The aim was to provide more light to the aircraft hangar in general to ensure the quality of the images.
- At the Palace Hotel Munich: Here, the lights were used to illuminate various scenes as part of a workshop – from stationery to a "paparazzi effect" with targeted flashlights.

The Challenges and Solutions
Each location brought its own challenges, from the time-limited shoot with a private jet under an approaching thunderstorm front to the need to perfectly illuminate the elegant rooms of a 5-star hotel. With the Candela continuous lights and their accessories, Marina was able to overcome these challenges, thanks to the high performance and flexibility of the lights.

Thus, Marina was always able to reorient the continuous lights and react quickly to different lighting situations. The use of the free "Candela LED" app was also particularly practical for this, allowing Marina not to have to leave her position. Quick adjustments were made via smartphone. For the very short shooting time available to Marina and the bridal couple during the jet shoot, this was an incredible advantage.
The battery use of the two Candela lights also ensures quick and uncomplicated setup at the hangar setting, as no cables need to be laid to connect the lights to the power outlet.
The Settings and the Results
The set at the airfield consisted of several curved tables and transparent chairs, the whole decorated with a gypsophila arch. The two Candela lights were used at 100 percent power and a color temperature of 3,400 Kelvin. The rotary hall was very dark and low, but could then be adequately brightened by the lights.

The second set inside the hotel was already well lit. Marina used the continuous lights to additionally brighten various settings. For example, in the carefully arranged stationery corner. The fine details and texture of the paper could be perfectly captured. The light flattered the materials and emphasized the natural colors.
In the dining room, the entire ambiance was to be brightened. However, the atmosphere should still appear natural, so that the table setting still exuded glamour and invited guests to linger. In combination with the 45 cm parabolic softbox and the appropriate diffuser, soft illumination at 50 percent power and a color temperature of also 3,400 Kelvin was possible without strong shadows and glare.
Marina also wanted to try out a creative effect with the two Candela 60 Bi-Color continuous lights. On the hotel gallery, one of the pre-set effects was used via the smartphone app: the Flashlight effect. This makes it possible to create a flurry of flashes, as with a hot shoe flash, despite working with continuous lights. This was also
Marina's intention, as she wanted to create a paparazzi-like ambiance. She recommends working without additional light modifiers on the continuous light for an authentic image. This makes the desired shadows in the image, as in paparazzi photos, stronger.
Marina's Conclusion
After completing both shoots, the wedding photographer is impressed by the price-performance ratio of the Candela series. Especially in terms of compactness, dual power supply, and performance, which are particularly important to Marina, the lights immediately convinced her.
"I have to say that I am absolutely thrilled by the creative possibilities of the Candela 60 Bi-Color plus the convenient operation and the consistently long-lasting V-mount battery. A small bag in the trunk and you are 'safe' to save or improve any lighting situation in a very short time," says Marina.
She sees the lights as a valuable addition to her workflow, where every second often counts and where she repeatedly works with inexperienced people in front of the camera to capture magical moments.
