Innovative, Smart Telescopes for Beginners or Professional Star-Gazing: Set Up, Connect, Marvel

Rollei collaborates with various partner brands to consistently offer its customers innovative products. Rollei is therefore pleased to announce that the eQuinox 2 and eVscope 2 telescopes from the French pioneer in digital telescopes, Unistellar, are now exclusively available in Germany and Austria. These smart telescopes are among the most powerful and user-friendly telescopes in the world.

Norderstedt, May 11, 2023. Rollei is known for innovative solutions in the field of photography and videography. Through the new partnership with Unistellar, the French pioneer in digital telescopes, Rollei aims to offer its customers in Germany and Austria the opportunity to delve into the breathtaking world of astronomy with innovative technologies.

The eQuinox 2 and eVscope 2 telescopes will be added to the Rollei product range. Both allow everyone to discover and explore the universe. Unistellar's products are among the most powerful and user-friendly telescopes in the world. Control is wireless and intuitive via your own smartphone or tablet using the free "Unistellar" app. With just one tap, observation targets can be selected in the app. Cumbersome polar alignment or prior knowledge of the starry sky is not necessary, as the eVscope 2 and eQuinox 2 automatically align themselves using an internal compass, accelerometer, and plate-solving (star field recognition).

Selected celestial objects can be observed in just a few seconds, all without further manual calibration steps. Furthermore, both the eVscope 2 and the eQuinox 2 feature image enhancement (Enhanced Vision Technology), which can easily and impressively display faint objects such as nebulae and galaxies. This is made possible by longer exposure times, which allow the colors and structures of the observed target to become clearly visible.

The smart telescopes combine a 114-millimeter mirror, a 450-millimeter focal length, and a fast aperture ratio of F/4. The image captured by the highly sensitive sensor is processed inside the telescopes and presented through the built-in eyepieces. The generated image is then displayed on an OLED screen with a high contrast ratio. The experience then resembles a live image produced by purely optical telescopes. Of course, this image can also be seen on up to 10 connected mobile devices in the app.

Both models are powered by an integrated battery, which provides a maximum runtime of 11 hours per charge. To ensure the selected telescope can be safely stored during transport, Rollei separately offers the matching Unistellar eVscope eQuinox Backpack.
