Rollei AF 85mm f/1.8 lens available now

The first Rollei lens is now available. The portrait lens with an F/1.8 aperture, precise STM autofocus, and full-metal housing has already impressed professional photographers with its exceptional image quality and robust construction. In addition, spare parts like lens hoods, as well as front and rear caps, are available for reordering.

The new 85mm lens marks the beginning of an extensive lens series – further lenses are already in development.

Norderstedt, 09.07.2025. Rollei's first proprietary lens is now regularly available: The Rollei AF 85 mm F/1.8 for Sony FE and Nikon Z-Mount marks the entry into the new VAF series (Full-frame Autofocus) and can be ordered from today in the Rollei online shop. The Rollei AF 85 mm F/1.8 offers professional features: The F/1.8 aperture with 11 blades creates creamy bokeh, while the HFT-X coating reduces ghosting and flare. The construction of 10 elements in 7 groups (2 ED and 2 HR lenses) ensures high edge sharpness. The precise STM autofocus operates silently and supports Face and Eye-Tracking. The robust full-metal housing weighs only 477 grams.

The Sony FE-Version features a linear metal aperture ring for stepless aperture control; both variants have an AF/MF switch, a freely assignable FN button, and a USB-C port for firmware updates. The minimum focusing distance is 0.85 meters (magnification 0.12×), and the filter thread measures 62 millimeters.

The Rollei AF 85 mm F/1.8 had already convinced professional photographers Mario Dirks and Stephan Wiesner before its launch. Dirks particularly praised the low weight of 477 grams and concluded: "It's light, well-made, and does exactly what a good portrait lens should do: beautiful pictures!" Wiesner highlighted the excellent value for money: "For 299 euros, you get a lot of lens – especially a lot of that beautiful bokeh."

Rollei also offers suitable spare parts such as lens hoods as well as front and rear caps starting from 9.99 Euro (RRP), so accessories can be quickly and easily reordered if needed.

Further lenses in the VAF series are already in development to continuously expand the portfolio.
