Now at Rollei: Anamorphic Full-Frame Cine Lenses from Viltrox

Together with its partner brand Viltrox, photo accessories expert Rollei presents three new full-frame anamorphic cine lenses with PL mount. The new lenses will be especially exciting for professional videographers and content creators who want to take their videos to a new level. In addition to the T/2.0 aperture, the hardly noticeable "breathing" effect during focus changes is also impressive for video recordings.

Norderstedt, 22.02.2023. Rollei has exciting news for professional videographers and content creators. With the new Viltrox EPIC series, three new Viltrox film lenses are now available. With three focal lengths of 35, 50, and 75 millimeters, the new lens series stands for breathtaking and cinematic results. The new Viltrox Anamorphic Full-Frame Cine Lenses were designed for film cameras with a PL (Positive-Lock) mount.

Even in poor lighting conditions, the film lenses ensure great footage thanks to their constant T/2.0 aperture. In addition, the new EPIC series with all three focal lengths enables detailed image reproduction right to the edge of the frame. This is also ensured for retro shots, where the new products stand out due to a fine and precise reproduction of the subject, as well as outstanding color and texture.

Further highlights include the compression factor or squeeze factor of 1.33x and the possibility to record directly in widescreen format of 2.35:1 and export widescreen images without the need for extra cropping. This is also ensured by a larger section of the subject that the lenses of the EPIC series can capture compared to conventional lenses.

All three focal lengths feature gears with standardized 0.8-module for support systems, allowing for precise mechanical focus changes. The high rotation possibility of 290 degrees also contributes to this. Specifically designed for videography, the optics offer, in addition to these modules, a stepless focus. The 35-millimeter version is equipped with 19 lenses and 13 groups, the 50-millimeter version with 18 lenses in 12 groups, and the 75-millimeter focal length with 18 lenses in 13 groups. The front lens of the objectives has been coated with a special nano-coating, making it waterproof and protected from external influences. To protect the internal lenses, the anamorphic cine lenses come with an all-metal housing in an elegant white color scheme, which features aperture and focus markings on both sides.

In addition to the extremely solid and high-quality craftsmanship, videographers also benefit from the identical design of the three lenses, as no new calibration is required when changing focal lengths when using Steady Cams. The outer diameter of 95 millimeters is ideal for the use of standard matte boxes. All new lenses, as well as the also available set with all focal lengths, are delivered in a splash-proof outdoor case with a pressure equalization valve and specially cut foam insert for safe transport and storage.
