Rollei Expands its Viltrox Range with Additional Speed Boosters and Adapters

Rollei is expanding its Viltrox range with more adapters and speed boosters. Adapters allow users to combine lenses from one manufacturer with cameras from another. Speed boosters contain a lens system (glass elements) that shortens the actual focal length by the specified factor and increases light output.

Hamburg/Norderstedt, March 4, 2021. With the release of the new Viltrox adapters and speed boosters, Rollei is targeting customers who, for example, buy the new Sony Alpha 1 camera but don't want to forgo their tried-and-tested Canon lenses. They can simply attach the adapter and the Sony camera becomes a Sony-Canon hybrid with the best features of both brands.

But the new products are not only aimed at this clientele. System changers, landscape photographers, and hobby photographers should also be interested in the accessories. The products are also suitable for street photography and reportage.

For all Canon lens users, adapters such as the Viltrox EF-EOS R Adapter for Canon EF lenses to EOS-R mount and thus for mirrorless cameras, the EF-R2 Adapter for Canon EF/EF-S lenses to R/RP mounts, the EF-Z Adapter for Canon EF/EF-S lenses to Nikon Z-Mount or the EF-GFX Adapter for Canon EF lenses to Fuji GFX for medium format are now available.

For all Nikon lens users, the NF-M1 Adapter for Nikon F lenses to MFT mount for Panasonic/Olympus will be released, as well as the NF-NEX Adapter for Nikon F lenses to Sony E-Mount, the NF-M43 for Nikon F lenses to Micro 4/3 for Panasonic/Olympus with manual aperture ring, or the NF-FX1 Adapter for Nikon F lenses to Fuji X-Mount.

Finally, the JY-43F Adapter is suitable for Four Thirds (DSLR) to Micro Four Thirds (mirrorless).

Speed boosters can be explained as containing a lens system that shortens the actual focal length of a lens by the specified factor. This effect becomes clear with the following example: a lens has a focal length of 100 millimeters. If a 0.71x speed booster is attached, the focal length is now 71 millimeters.

Another advantage: these speed boosters gain one f-stop. This means that a maximum aperture of 2.8 can be increased to f/2 by the speed booster, providing more light.
Another advantage of the two accessories mentioned is that they are not only particularly easy to attach, but they can even receive updates via a USB interface. It is also exciting that EXIF data is transmitted and autofocus can be used.

The EF-FX2 Speed Booster for Canon EF lenses to Fuji X-Mount and the Viltrox EF-Z2 Speed Booster for Canon EF lenses to Nikon Z-Mount or the NF-E Speed Booster for Nikon F lenses to Sony E-Mount are now available.
