The first Viltrox lens for the Canon R series

Fast 85mm lens with robust metal housing

Together with Viltrox, photo accessory manufacturer Rollei presents the first lens for Canon full-frame cameras with RF-mount in the Viltrox range.
The fast 85mm lens with an aperture of F/1.8 is ideal for street and portrait photography. Videographers can also benefit from the new product thanks to the fast and silent STM autofocus.

Norderstedt, 02.02.2022. Together with partner brand Viltrox, Rollei is now presenting a full-frame lens for Canon cameras with RF-mount. The Viltrox AF 85mm / 1.8 RF-Mount lens is an absolute novelty on the market, offering an inexpensive yet high-quality alternative for street photography and portrait shots.

The 85mm focal length of the lens in combination with the fast F/1.8 aperture is suitable for working in various lighting conditions as well as for controlling depth of field and isolating subjects. In addition, the nine-blade aperture contributes to a pleasing bokeh.

The new product supports not only manual and autofocus, but also eye-detection autofocus, which automatically focuses on the eyes. A toggle switch integrated on the lens can be used to switch between the different focus modes. In addition, it scores with its fast, silent STM focus motor and can therefore be used particularly well for video recordings.

The first Viltrox lens for Canon's R series features 7 lens groups with 10 glass elements in a robust metal housing. Various photo filter systems can be attached via the 72-millimeter filter thread if required. Thanks to its compact weight of only 530 grams and a length of less than 10 cm, it is also suitable for longer tours. Firmware updates can be easily installed via the integrated USB-C port. The included lens hood protects the front lens from stray light and also offers additional physical protection.
