Bright 85 mm lens with a robust metal housing
Together with Viltrox, the photo accessories manufacturer Rollei is presenting the first lens for Canon full-frame cameras with an RF mount in the Viltrox range.
The bright 85 mm lens with an aperture of F/1.8 is ideal for street and portrait shots. Videographers can also benefit from the novelty thanks to the fast and silent STM autofocus.
Norderstedt, February 2nd, 2022. Together with the partner brand Viltrox, Rollei is now presenting a Full frame lens for Canon cameras with RF mount. With the Viltrox lens AF 85mm / 1.8 RF mount is an absolute novelty on the market, which offers an inexpensive, but nevertheless high-quality alternative for street photography and portrait shots.
The 85mm focal length lens in combination with the large aperture of F/1.8 is suitable for working in different lighting conditions as well as for controlling depth of field and isolating subjects. In addition, the nine-blade aperture contributes to a pleasant bokeh.
The novelty supports not only that manual and auto focus, but also the Eye Detection Auto Focus, which automatically focuses on the eyes. About an am lens integrated toggle switch can be used to switch between the different focus modes. In addition, it scores with its fast, noiseless STM focus motor and can therefore also be used for video recordings be used particularly well.
The first Viltrox lens for Canon's R series has 7 lens groups with 10 glasses in a robust metal housing. If required, various photo filter systems can be attached via the 72 millimeter filter thread. Thanks to its compact weight of just 530 grams and a length of less than 10 cm, it is also suitable for longer tours. Firmware updates can be easily uploaded via the integrated USB-C port. The included lens hood protects the front lens from stray light and also offers additional physical protection.
