THE RECYCLING PROCESS.

The process starts with the collection of plastic bottles. After the bottles are thoroughly washed, the labels and caps are removed. Bottles and caps are then sorted by color and decolorized.

The plastic is then shredded and melted down into small, uniform "pellets". These pellets are then spun into PET fibers. We use these PET fibers for our products. They have useful properties, such as their durability. They are also abrasion-resistant and quick-drying.

The use of plastic bottles as raw material for PET fibers is therefore a great alternative for us.

COLLECTED FOR SOMETHING NEW.

Our new "Fotoliner Ocean" backpacks are mostly made from old 0.5-liter plastic bottles, which are turned into granules in the recycling process. This 100% recycled plastic granule is then processed into fabric for our backpacks. For each individual camera backpack, we know exactly how many plastic bottles have been processed into that backpack.

Our backpacks are naturally not packed in plastic, but they come in our so-called "Nonwaver". A high-quality fabric bag that also looks really good.

The plastic for our backpacks goes through only a few steps from plastic bottle to backpack. [1] In the first step, it is collected from the environment in China. [2] To avoid cumbersome transport to other locations, it is directly processed into plastic granules on site in fairly paid factories. [3] This plastic granule then reaches its next stage of existence – that of backpacks. [4] And when our new gems are finished, they make their way to Europe – to our warehouse.

CO2 OFFSET – NOT JUST FOR BACKPACKS

With every purchase you make through our online shop, we automatically provide a CO2 offset, which is directly linked to our shop system.  CO2 offsetting works by companies or private individuals paying a certain amount, which is then passed on to organizations that, for example, work to reforest forests. In our case, it is the organization Pachama, which is committed to protecting forests worldwide.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY

Some customers and cooperation partners were able to get a first impression of the new Fotoliner Ocean backpacks in advance.

"I wouldn't have thought that plastic bottles could be processed into such a high-quality fabric. I've already taken the previous Fotoliner backpacks on trips and I'm sure this one will do just as good a job."

"It was important for me to have a backpack that wasn't a burden despite all the equipment. The backpack is so well padded that you sometimes forget you're wearing it. I'm very enthusiastic and look forward to the next tours!"
