With its new α1 mirrorless full-frame camera, Sony is launching an absolute battleship. The α1 achieves a continuous shooting rate of 30 frames per second, a resolution of 50 megapixels with automatic exposure, and tracking autofocus.
Sony itself states that the camera performs up to 120 AF/AE calculations per second. This is made possible by the Exmor-RS sensor with stacking technology, which was already installed in the Alpha 9 II. At that time with lower resolution - but now in combination with the Bionz-XR processor. This combination allows the camera to offer many new possibilities and features.

Subject Recognition Technology for Animals
One of these is the new subject recognition technology, which is particularly suitable for cats and dogs. The reason for this is that this subject recognition technology is particularly good and reliable for tracking and focusing on animal eyes. And this technology even works when the face is upside down.
Especially good with birds
But that's not all. Because the first-class technology slumbering inside the camera is even able to track and focus on the eyes of birds with its real-time eye autofocus - even if the observed birds should suddenly fly away or the image section changes temporarily. In this way, high-quality and sharp pictures of birds can be taken completely effortlessly.
And this is where Rollei comes in
When it comes to animal photography, the silent shutter release of the camera also benefits you as a photographer – thanks to the vibration-free electronic shutter. The combination of the extremely high resolution of 50 MP and 30 fps with a high shutter speed including autofocus are also ideal for nature photography. Because these aspects offer the possibility to track fast-moving objects and always be able to photograph them sharply.
This is where Rollei comes in. Because we have exactly the right addition for your nature photography with the new "Sony α1", because we want you as a nature photographer to be able to take even better photos with our equipment.

Smooth pans - fantastic shots
That's why we launched our two gimbal tripods "Lion Rock Gimbal M" and "Lion Rock Gimbal L". They offer a maximum load capacity of 10 kilograms (Lion Rock Gimbal M) and 30 kilograms (Lion Rock Gimbal L) respectively. The "Lion Rock Gimbal" models M and L are proven tripods for nature photography and feature a gimbal head that allows for particularly smooth pans of your camera and lens.
So while your new "Sony α1" focuses on the subject, the "Lion Rock Gimbal" ensures that you can follow the subject smoothly. And that also applies to fast movements. Their design allows both tripods to make absolutely smooth camera movements. This makes tracking animals, such as birds, in their natural habitat an absolute pleasure for nature photographers. Even (and especially) with larger lenses and extreme focal lengths. The tripod also has an integrated leveling unit, and on the gimbal head itself you will find further detailed scales and panorama functions, which allow the "Sony α1" to be aligned effortlessly.

And safety? Of course, we've thought about that too
We have also considered the safety of your equipment. That's why spikes are also integrated into the gimbal tripod, which ensure a secure stand (no matter the terrain). This allows you to take spectacular animal photographs even in rough terrain - always with a secure footing. And to ensure that your new "Sony α1" is also securely seated on the tripod, safety mechanisms on the tilt axis and quick-release plate of the "Lion Rock Gimbal" ensure that the camera is held securely at all times and does not slip off.
What more could you want? Perhaps this information:
In addition to nature photography, the combination of Rollei's "Lion Rock Gimbal" and Sony's α1 is also excellent for sports photography. This is because the "Sony α1" focuses on the human eye with its real-time eye autofocus about 30 percent more accurately than the α9 II. And with the Lion Rock Gimbal M (or L), extremely smooth photography is possible at a completely new level. Enjoy!
