With artificial light, photographers imitate the most beautiful picturesque lighting moods of the sun. Classically, a flash is used, but nowadays LED continuous lights are being used more and more often. These are easier to use because they show the effect of the light in the photo even before the shutter is released. In many cases, they also offer precise adjustment of the color temperature and are sometimes even equipped with colored LEDs or special effects.

Photographer Patrick Engfer also likes to use the artificial light source for his own shoots. For years, he has been relying on various Rollei products and with the help of this technology, he can take his photos to a new level and ensure the highest possible quality. This provided the optimal opportunity for a shoot with the Lumen Studio continuous lights. The goal was to position the light in such a way that the incident light imitated the sun and created a portrait with sunset flair.

The final photo:

For the setting, Patrick Engfer didn't need much more equipment than the model, the camera, and the LED continuous light. The LED continuous light was placed outdoors in front of the window on a light stand with a daylight-like color temperature of 5,500 Kelvin. Since it was raining slightly at the time of the shoot, Engfer placed a large umbrella over the light. This ensured that the device would not be exposed to any moisture.

Due to the simple operation, it was easy for the photographer to quickly find the right position for the light. Within a few minutes, the model was positioned, and he could match the settings with his camera.

With the setup shown above, you too can achieve a simple portrait idea with an exciting effect in just a few steps. Let your creativity run wild and be flexible even without the necessary natural light with LED continuous lights and use the interplay of artificial light and shadows with simple aids such as blinds.
