Faster, more precise, more flexible – new HS Freeze X-series

With the HS Freeze 6X, 4X and 2X studio flashes, Rollei presents an advancement of the successful HS Freeze series. The flashes offer three power levels between 250 and 600 watt-seconds and enable flash durations of up to 1/27,000 seconds. They are characterized by fast recycling times, bi-color LED modeling light and wireless control, which makes them ideal for studio and on-location shoots. The models support flash modes such as TTL, HSS, Freeze and Strobe and offer compatibility with various light shapers. In addition, control can be precisely performed directly on the device via the new touch display or via the new TR-Q8 radio trigger.

Norderstedt, 09.04.2025. With the new HS Freeze 6X, 4X and 2X studio flashes, Rollei presents the advancement of its successful HS Freeze series. These powerful flash units continue to set high standards in flash photography. True to the motto "Now even faster, more precise and more flexible", they offer a combination of high flash output, fast recycling times, flexible LED modeling lights and wireless control for creative freedom. They are suitable for both studio use and mobile on-location shoots and offer broad compatibility with modern camera systems.

All three models now feature a flexible bi-color LED modeling light (up to 40 watts for the 6X, 30 watts for the 4X and 12 watts for the 2X) with continuously adjustable color temperature from 2,700 to 6,500 Kelvin. If required, this can also be used as a continuous LED light. With support for flash modes such as TTL, HSS, Freeze and Strobe, they offer the necessary flexibility for a wide range of shooting situations.

The HS Freeze 6X offers impressive power for demanding shots with 600 watt-seconds of flash output, a guide number of 88 and a flash duration of up to 1/27,000 seconds. The HS Freeze 4X combines 400 watt-seconds of power, a guide number of 72 and a flash duration of up to 1/24,000 seconds, thus representing an ideal balance between power and weight. The compact model HS Freeze 2X delivers a powerful and mobile solution for fast shots with 250 watt-seconds of flash output, a guide number of 50 and a flash duration of up to 1/24,700 seconds.

All three models offer lightning-fast recycling times. The HS Freeze 6X and HS Freeze 4X require only 0.01 to 0.9 seconds. For the HS Freeze 2X, the time is between 0.01 and 1.2 seconds. Thanks to powerful batteries, many flash releases are possible. The HS Freeze 6X manages up to 380, the HS Freeze 4X up to 500 and the HS Freeze 2X up to 450 releases. In the studio, all flashes can be charged directly via the power supply unit.

If the settings are not made directly via the intuitive touch display of the flashes, wireless control is also possible. This is done via the integrated 2.4 GHz radio receiver with a range of up to 80 meters, which is compatible with most Rollei radio transmitters. For reliable signal transmission between the transmitter and multiple flashes, the three models offer 31 channels and 16 groups.

For more flexibility, the HS Freeze 6X and HS Freeze 4X come with a Bowens S-Type mount, allowing various light shapers to be attached. For the HS Freeze 2X, separately available light shapers are available, and if required, compatibility with Bowens S-Type light shapers can also be ensured via a separate Bowens adapter. Each model also features a USB-C interface to allow future firmware updates to be installed on the flashes.

In addition to the new flash units, Rollei introduces the TR-Q8 Touch professional radio transmitter (RRP 99.99 Euro). It enables photographers to precisely control via intuitive touch operation. The touch display makes it particularly easy to make settings by swiping and tapping. The radio transmitter is available in two versions – with a multi-compatible hot shoe or a Sony multi-interface connector – and offers high compatibility and flexibility for all Rollei Freeze and studio flashes. With a battery life of up to 30,000 releases and a fast charging function via USB-C, the TR-Q8 Touch is always ready for use.

The HS Freeze 2X is available for 299 Euro (RRP 349 Euro), the HS Freeze 4X for 549 Euro (RRP 599 Euro) and the HS Freeze 6X for 799 Euro (RRP 849 Euro). The new HS Freeze X studio flashes and the TR-Q8 Touch professional radio transmitter in both versions are now available in the Rollei online shop at www.rollei.de/hs-freeze-x.
