Responsibility for the Environment

At Rollei, we firmly believe that you can only truly tackle a problem once you've recognized it as a problem – and then defined how to change it.

The same applies to climate change. We recognize that climate change and its severe consequences for all living creatures on our planet were brought about by humans. And we believe that this problem must demand a new way of thinking from all of us, whether individuals or businesses.

Our guiding principle has therefore become that, in addition to relieving the burden on the environment, we also focus on waste avoidance and recyclability. This makes our products more sustainable, more environmentally friendly, and overall of higher quality.

However, we are also aware that a moving train cannot suddenly drive in the opposite direction at full speed. But: even a U-turn starts with a curve. We are starting our personal curve by beginning with what we can change in the short term.

For example, by protecting natural resources and therefore ensuring that we operate as much as possible with paperless offices and sensitizing our employees accordingly to use as little paper as possible.

But of course, it doesn't stop there. Because the outer packaging of our products, which, for example, requires a lot of material for larger tripods, has been converted as far as possible to be plastic-free. This has also been the case for some time now for the filling material in our shipping cartons, which is now plastic-free.

The reason for this: plastic takes an extremely long time to degrade. And during this process, it breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces. We urgently want to avoid these environmental damages.

Another measure we have already taken goes in this direction. Because we are now working with partners who supply us with plastic collected from the oceans to relieve the environment while doing good. We then process this plastic and thus turn it back into raw materials from which we can then manufacture new products.

Our journey is far from over; it is just beginning with these measures. Gradually, we will identify further points where we can make improvements to something that might not have been so good before.
